Gee I’m Glad It’s Raining
There are times in your life, when things hit you like a ton of bricks. You miss people in your lives, there are things you’ve wished you said to people, that you may never get another chance to, etc
Sometimes these things weigh so heavily on you that you begin to feel helpless, hopeless, and empty.
In any case, I was watching a movie with my children, and there was a song in the movie which really affected me, and actually brought tears to my eyes (not a very easy thing to do). I was just able to relate to the song so much more over these past few days.
There will always be things in your life you have no control over, and it’s those things you’re forced to deal with, forced to accept, and sometimes forced to let go of.
When those things come along, you ultimately try to hide it behind a smile, and pretend you don’t care, when in reality no one will ever know how intense the emotional pain really is. You hide it for many reasons. Maybe you have no one to turn to, maybe you just don’t want people around you to know how bad you’re hurting, and just maybe the people you thought you could count on…don’t actually care. Afterall, people can’t willingly hurt the people they care about, and then act as though it’s no big deal.
In any case, the song that touched me, happened to hit me this morning, when it seemed like I could physically feel my heart crumbling. I looked out the window of my living room and it was raining. I’m not a poetic type of person, but I truly thought “How fitting…today is so bad, even the sky is crying.” That’s when the song hit me.
I have included the lyrics to it below and you can listen to the song, below the lyrics:
Gee I’m Glad It’s Raining
By: Jim Varney
Gee I’m glad it’s raining
There’s always something to be thankful for.
I’m awfully glad it’s raining,
‘Cause no one sees your tear drops when it pours.
And no one knows the thunder
Is your heartbreak in disguise.
They think the rainy night’s
What put that sad look in your eyes.
Sure am glad it’s raining;
The gentle rhythm soothes the pain inside.
I’m glad the stars aren’t shining
A wounded warrior needs a place to hide.
I thought I had found someone
I could count on ‘til the end.
What they wanted was a hero,
All I needed was a friend.
Gee I’m glad it’s raining
I hope the Morning sun won’t come up soon.
As long as it keeps raining,
No one knows my heart broke right in two.
I thought I had found someone
I could count on ‘til the end.
What they wanted was a hero,
All I needed was a friend.
Sure am glad it’s raining.
I’m awfully glad it’s raining.
